The event was intimate, with over 30 second-year students in attendance, along with guest speaker Dr. Duong Van Binh, a PhD in Japanese Cultural Studies.
Drawing from his extensive study and work experience in Japan, Dr. Duong Van Binh enriched the session with practical stories and real-life examples. Together with Mr. Khiem Nguyen, they vividly illustrated the career development pathway to becoming a global architect.

The attendees found the session concise but truly valuable, gaining practical knowledge that is rarely found in newspapers or on television.
Architecture, as a specialized field, faces the same issue as many other professions in Vietnam: multiple well-trained graduates struggle to seek suitable jobs. The session highlighted several reasons for this, focusing on the insufficient competitiveness of Vietnamese architecture professionals in the global market due to lack of language skills and practical experience.

The discussion became particularly lively during the Q&A session, as it addressed the students’ key concerns. Many second-year students asked guest speakers about job opportunities after graduation, language learning pathways, and essential work skills.

Sharing his thoughts with LaPerle after the session, Quang Minh emphasized the importance of language skills in addition to essential software skills like CAD and BIM. He noted the growing relevance of languages such as Japanese and the need to start learning them immediately.
Dr. Duong Van Binh expressed his impression upon hearing a student’s remark that culture stems from language. The student also eagerly anticipated in opportunities to connect with Japanese exchange students in LaPerle upcoming events.

Thanh Binh – a student concluded: “For the very first time, I shared my dreams with strangers without being called ‘crazy,’ which really motivated me. The speakers gave us a chance to connect with Japan, and Mr. Khiem provided fascinating insights on both studying and living.”
The students’ feedback serves as a significant drive for LaPerle to organize more events with guest speakers from the architecture field and related areas, including more surprises and specialized training programs for the students.
The journey to becoming a global architect with a strong presence in the international architecture community starts now, with LaPerle.
